Goodbye Jan Brazill

Goodbye Jan Brazill

Jan Brazill, a lifelong voice for women’s rights and for separation of church and state passed away on May 15th 2020 at the age of 93. Jan was a long-time member and enthusiastic supporter of the Freethinkers of Colorado Springs.

She was a computer systems analyst at the U S Air Force Academy until her retirement in 1985. She and her late husband George worked as escorts for Planned Parenthood, wearing bulletproof vests as they helped women get past hostile protesters to receive reproductive services. In her retirement, Jan was a tireless advocate for Freethought. She didn’t hesitate to go toe-to-toe with religious conservatives, writing many intelligent articles, columns, and letters to editors.

Jan Brazill spoke powerfully for secularism and for human rights.

Her voice will be sorely missed.
