03 / 18 (event) Freethinkers caution City Council about YMCA take over of swimming pools Start: 11:54 am The Colorado Springs City Council is considering a proposal to turn over management of the city's swimming pool system to the local YMCA. The Young Mens Christian Association. Anytime government functions and money are turned over to religious organizations there is a chance that non-religious people might be excluded from the final outcome. With care and thoughtfulness, the city could craft this deal so that no citizen would be deprived of their rights because the are not a member of that particular religion. But too often our officials fail to consider this need until its too late. more info

03 / 28 (event) Women's Month Celebration and lively Discussion Start: 7:00 pm End: 9:00 pm March is Women?s Month and we will celebrate with a lively discussion on the current war on women. This is both a tool in the political wars and a full on attack on women?s healthcare. Many of the leaders in the last century who fought for women?s rights were freethinkers. We may need to call some of them up! Please join us. Big House Sports has a convenient little café near our meeting room. Some of us will gather earlier for a light snack before the meeting.
