The Colorado Springs City Council is considering a proposal to turn over management of the city's swimming pool system to the local YMCA. The Young Mens Christian Association. Anytime government functions and money are turned over to religious organizations there is a chance that non-religious people might be excluded from the final outcome. With care and thoughtfulness, the city could craft this deal so that no citizen would be deprived of their rights because the are not a member of that particular religion. But too often our officials fail to consider this need until its too late.
