"Freethinkers' Day" at KRCC

KRCC — Radio Colorado College — are holding their Spring Fund Drive, and Sunday, May 4th, has been designated “Freethinkers’ Day.” The Freethinkers of Colorado Springs will be answering phones at KRCC studios, taking pledges for the Fund Drive (not talking on the air), and we’re asking for your help to fill as many shifts on that day as we can. This will be great publicity for the Freethinkers — our group will get lots of mentions on the air — so we want to fill as many shifts as we can with Freethinkers. This is a research data presentation, from 22 different sources, that is primarily concerned to show indicators of the rise in nonreligion, atheism, and secularity in the United States (and with minor and brief references to global rates). Throughout the presentation, I provide statistical and other research data that describes atheists, agnostics, and nones using studies from 1990 to 2014, and I refer to causality and theories on what lies behind this rise in recent decades. However, for the most part, the main thrust here is that a solid statistical and data driven case can be made for a rise in various indicators of secularity, that this rise did happen and is currently happening.

Who is Urban Peak? Urban Peak Colorado Springs emergency shelter is a 20 bed facility for youth ages 15 through 20. At the shelter, youth have their basic needs met—from meals to personal hygiene—in a safe environment.
