Secular Sunday Brunch at N. Academy Panera Bread

12/06/2015 - 09:30

This is a social event without an established discussion topic…just like-minded, non-religious people getting together to both strengthen friendships and make new friends. Many of us probably miss the sense of community that came from weekly gatherings, and this is a great way to create community in a non-religious environment. Look for a small paper sign on our tables saying "meetup Freethinkers and Atheists" , so you know you have found your friends. We usually start gather around 9:15 but some folks join us as late at 10:30 or 11. I personally try to leave about 11:30, but often end up chatting longer. The food and coffee is good, and available at the front counter. Most of our folks buy something, but nothing says you have to. Please forgive the first timer, "I just left the church" people because they often are BUSTING with stories they have to tell. Conversations range across topics including Politics, both Pope's at the Vatican, mormon escapees, "conspiracy theories" like the christian domination of the western world, economics, and the current news.
No one directs these discussions. Some folks bring books to talk about, other times mobiles get passed around with great pictures or Memes on them.
Special Note: The Secular Sundays Brunch will be meeting on the following weeks each month: First and Second Sunday, North Academy, back room, Third and Fourth Sunday on New Center Pt off of Powers Blvd and Carefree.
