The Legitimacy of Medical Marijuana as Medicine

The presentation will focus on the legitimacy of marijuana as medicine examining current medical community beliefs, why a patient might choose marijuana over traditional FDA approved medications and comparing the pharmacology of the chemicals in marijuana to commonly prescribed medicines.  All information is supported with citations to government publications and peer-reviewed medical literature. 

Matthew Schnur is a student of cell and molecular biology at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, is a member of the board of Colorado NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Law), a state representative of ASA (Americans for Safe Access) and the owner of Genovations Laboratory. 

Genovations Laboratory performs research and development of alternative alternative forms of cannabis medicines including lotions, balms, tinctures, chewing gum, suckers, chocolates, hash oils, etc. and is awaiting approval of a clinical study observing the genetic, protein, and cardiovascular effects of cannabis use on types 1 and 2 diabetes.  Genovations also studies the efficacy of individual strains and performs educational functions for Colorado police and politicians, doctoral outreach & education, and cannabinoid quantification.
