Hi Hiking Freethinkers,

The Aiken Canyon hike scheduled for tomorrow, April 24 has been canceled. There is supposed to be snow on the trail this evening and rain tomorrow during the day. A large part of that trail gets extremely nasty to walk on when it is wet. There has been a request to not reschedule the Aiken Canyon hike for May 1st. Therefore, it will be rescheduled for a later date.

Hi Hiking Freethinkers,

The hike on Sunday, April 24th (Easter) will be Aiken Canyon. A well-maintained, four-mile-loop hiking trail begins at the entrance. An additional 3/4 mile trail branches off from the loop and makes its way through the canyon. 410 ft elevation gain. About 16 miles south of Colorado Springs, about 20 miles north of highway 50 just off highway 115. I consider this a moderately easy hike. We will carpool from the park-n-ride under Interstate 25 between Tejon and Nevada. We will leave the parking area at 9:00 AM.

Please bring enough water and snacks for the hike.

Due to the number of people on the hike, please let me know if you plan on attending the hike. If you change your mind, please let me know that also.
