Professors David Gardiner (Colorado College) and Jeff Scholes (University of Colorado at Colorado Springs) will discuss the current state of religious belief. Relatively recent challenges to traditional religious belief in the form of the New Atheism, Secular Humanism, religious pluralism, and technological innovations, to name a few, have defied belief in transcendent reality. Can any patterns of healthy religious belief still be possible? Gardiner and Scholes will converse about these problems and invite a lively discussion with audience members on the topic. Sponsored by the Colorado College religion department, the UCCS Center for Religious Diversity and Public Life, and the BodhiMind Center.
