Freethinkers Book Drive for Incarcerated Youth

03/08/2016 - 00:00
04/01/2016 - 18:00

THANK YOU! We collected enough books to fill the back of a midsized SUV. The Freethinkers of Colorado Springs appreciate your support.

The Freethinkers of Colorado Springs are conducting a book drive to augment reading materials for incarcerated youth in the Spring Creek Education program of the Division of Youth Corrections (DYC). Virtually all types of books are welcome, except for pornography or books extolling graphic violence. The DYC say books recounting successful self-help/self-improvement experiences are especially popular, as are most multi-volume books such as Twilight, Harry Potter, Divergent, and Hunger Games series. A list of books specifically requested by the students can be viewed below, but you need not limit your choices to this list. The DYC have adequate bibles, but alternate religious/spiritual books are also welcome. The deadline for donations is April 1st. Your donated books can be dropped off at either of the two Colorado Springs addresses below; please call the phone number to schedule a drop-off time. Thank-you so much!
