Electromagnetic Compatibility

by Gus Freyer

The presentation will define the current use of the term Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and will introduce the technical aspects and history of EMC as an electrical engineering sub discipline.    The main focus of the presentation will be identification of the wide range of EMC effects that have been encountered.   Finally a personal view of the future of EMC will be presented.

Gus Freyer has been involved with system electromagnetic effects for over 30 years during an Air Force career, as a Peacekeeper ICBM project manager for Martin Marietta Aerospace, as Director of the Physical Science Laboratory of New Mexico State University, and as a consultant.   Gus has almost 20 years experience in testing of electronic systems with emphasis on the use of reverberation chambers.   He has authored, coauthored, or edited over 20 papers and technical reports.   Gus currently teaches short courses and advises two PhD candidates at the Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK.   He is also active as a consultant to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, VA.    He has a MS in Nuclear Engineering and a PhD in Physics.

Please mark your calendars and attend what promises to be a very interesting and technologically informative presentation!
