Earth Day Cleanup (with Pikes Peak Atheists and Pikes Peak Atheist Families)

We will park in the Stetson Park parking lot and walk to the trail.

Join us for our first group cleanup effort of the year, along the section of creek that Pikes Peak Atheists has adopted. We are responsible for the Sand Creek Trail (and creek) from Stetson Hills, south to Barnes Rd. Stetson Park (and Stetson Elementary School) are located along that section of trail and will allow for easy access and parking.

Our goal is to pick up trash and pet waste, with a concentration on the waterway, since it can carry trash further down stream. The City of Colorado Springs will supply the trash bags and pet waste bags, and I will be bringing other supplies (such as buckets, trash grabbers, and work gloves). Please come dressed prepared for getting dirty, and wear protective shoes (no sandals). Sunscreen and sunglasses or hats are highly recommended. Also bring your own refillable water bottles, and I will have a large water jug for refills.

Kids are welcome to participate and generally have fun, but require supervision for safety during this event. I will have waiver forms for everyone that must be filled out prior to starting any work. We also encourage anyone to take before/after photos of the areas we clean up so that we can send photos to the City of our accomplishments.

The more volunteers we get, the faster and easier this work is, and the more distance we can cover. :-)

Hope to see you there!
