Weather permitting, there will be a hike on Sunday, Sept. 18th. The hike is Black Forest Section 16. This hike is a mostly flat 4.2 mile loop in Black Forest. To get there from Corporate Drive and Woodmen Road, head east, go 6.3 miles, turn left onto Black Forest Road, go 0.2 miles, turn right onto Vollmer Road, go 4.5 miles, turn left onto Burgess Road, go 0.25 miles, turn right into the trailhead parking lot.
There will be 3 ways to get to the trailhead parking lot.

1) If you live in the Black Forest, go directly to the trailhead parking lot on your own.

2) If you live in Colorado Springs and want to carpool to the trailhead, I suggest meeting at the Woodmen Valley park-n-ride. From Interstate 25 and Woodmen Road, head west to the first traffic light, turn left (south) onto Corporate Drive, in a short distance turn right (west) onto Mark Dabling Blvd, turn right again (almost immediately) into the parking lot. Park in the southeast corner of the parking lot. If you choose this option I will try to let everyone know who plans on meeting at the park-n-ride. Please be ready to leave the park-n-ride by 9:00 AM. It takes about 1/2 hour to get to the trailhead from here. Georgianne and I will not be at the Woodmen Valley park-n-ride. We will be leaving directly from our home.

3) If you live north of Briargate Parkway in Colorado Springs or in Monument, I suggest meeting at my home. Directions below. We will carpool to the trailhead. We will be leaving my home about 9:00 AM. It takes about 1/2 hour to get to the trailhead from my home.

Please bring enough water on the hike. We should be finished with this hike before lunch. Georgianne and I need to be home for lunch. We have tickets for the Philharmonic in the afternoon.

Please let me know if you plan on attending the hike and also please let me know which option you are going to choose to get to the trailhead. If you change your mind, please let me know that also.

Directions to Rich and Georgianne's home:
Travel north from Colorado Springs on Interstate 25 to exit 156A, Gleneagle Drive. That puts you heading east on Northgate Drive (not Gleneagle Drive). (There will be no signs telling you that you are on Northgate Drive.) Take your first left (at the first traffic light and a double turn lane) onto the large and divided Struthers Road. Follow Struthers Road for about 1 mile, there is a large "Summer Glen Estates" sign on your right. Directly in front of the sign, turn right onto Falcons Nest Loop. Take your second right onto Scottsdale Drive, then your first left onto Sedona Drive. My house is at the end of the cul-de-sac, slightly on the right. 205 Sedona Drive. 594-4506.
