May Social We had a bit of trouble finding a house so we got a ranch! The Freethinkers of Colorado Springs are joining the COCORE party at the Ranch, in Nederlands, Colorado. Think of this as a secular Pow Wow featuring a short hike and gourmet BBQ, with trout fishing, live music and socializing. The event will be hosted by Tom and the Boulder Atheists. All COCORE groups and members are invited, so get the word out.
The meeting will start at noon. This will be in conjunction with an AAA convention committee meeting. Many COCORE organizers are also on the convention committee. The COCORE meeting will continue after the AAA portion.
The party will start around 2 PM. The optional hike will start around 3, and the BBQ will start around 4 or 5. There will be an open mic and lots of socializing going on until the last man is standing. Tom has generously invited folks to camp out there Saturday night (Friday too if you want).
The BBQ will consist of fresh trout caught that day by guests, hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, fresh fruit, chips and salsa, green salad, potato salad, beans, desserts and beverages. Extra beverages are welcome.
This is a family-friendly event, so bring the whole family.
Suggested donation is $5, and will be used to pay for food and live trout. Small children are free.
For questions or details, call Tom at (303) 818-1638.
Directions to the ranch: Coming into Boulder from Denver on US 36, turn left (west) on Canyon Blvd. (the third stoplight). After passing Downtown Boulder (at Broadway), continue west on Canyon for about 5 more miles, until you see the turnoff for Magnolia Road (about 1 mile past the tunnel). Turn left on Magnolia and go 7.9 miles to the Kellogg Ranch entrance on the left, marked with colored wind socks. Proceed down the driveway for about a mile, taking the right fork about half way down. Park in the indicated meadow, and walk up to the house. You can drop off at the house first, and there are a few parking spots there.
