Internationally acclaimed science writer and educator Richard Dawkins will be appearing in Colorado Springs, Tuesday, Oct 16 at 6:30. He had originally scheduled a stop in the Springs as part of this current US tour. He had been invited by members of the US Air Force Academy Freethinkers, a student group recognized by the Academy. That appearance was block by officials at the academy because of Dawkins outspoken views about religion, according to Gary Betchan, a Freethinkers of Colorado Springs member who helped found the AFA Freethinkers. A local High School student, learning of Dawkins visit, had asked his Foundation if he would please come speak to his science class. Dawkins agreed, but was again block by political forces in School District 20. So the Richard Dawkins foundation rented the High Schools Auditorium, and "the show will go on" tonight. The doors will open at 6:30 PM at Discovery Canyon Campus at 1810 North Gate Road. Tickets have been distributed through an online site, but it appears there are no more available. Anyone seriously interested in attending should come to the event, as some seat may still be available. For more information, please call or text Gary Betchan at 719-659-5076
