Inequality is Undeniable and Equality is Irresistible

High level government bodies in an increasing number of states (such as Iowa and Vermont) are affirming that allowing one group the benefits of [insert action here] while simultaneously denying a different group access to [insert same action here], constitutes prima facie discrimination – and is thus unlawful.

Violations of basic legal precepts presented by such discrimination are quite obvious and (in a truly just society) must inevitably lead to the granting of equality to those who are currently discriminated against (or the revocation of the rights of those currently enjoying activities denied to others).  However, one wonders why the violations of religious precepts such as reciprocity with respect to [insert same action here] are not also obvious.  Virtually every religious belief system on earth supports the idea that one should “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”  It seems unlikely that those who hold this point of view would want to be denied the right to [insert action here] while other groups enjoy the full benefits of [insert same action here].

Apparently legal groups and elected government bodies are beginning to “see the light” when it comes to equality with respect to [insert action here].  Until religious leaders and groups come to terms with the idea that equality includes all citizen’s equal right to [insert action here] and stand up to defend everyone’s right to [insert action here], discrimination will continue and the proud ideals of human and civil rights that our nation - and many religions – aspire to will remain unfulfilled.
