Long time local Freethinker Jim Colson from Pueblo has transitioned to the
Memory Phase of our collective lives. He died last week.
Most of us remember Jim as the slender man who drove to our Springs events to
learn and share his smiles and laughs with us.
We will be holding a party to celebrate his life on Saturday at 2 pm.
Pueblo FT activist and friend of Jim, Louis Burg is managing the event which
will be in Pueblo. Here is her discussion of the event.

"Our secular Celebration of Life for Jim is at 2:00 p.m. this Saturday, October

Three days before his bid for reelection, in the wake of a school shooting in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina, a Republican U.S. senator makes an off-the-cuff comment to a blogger that gets leaked on “the Twitter,” calling into question the senator’s stance on guns and God. As his devoutly Christian wife and liberal Jewish campaign manager try to contain the damage, this look at how religion influences politics and how politics has become a religion is simultaneously funny, heartbreaking, and uplifting.

This is THE main event for the Freethinkers these days. We usually draws 10 to 30 people. Some folks bring wine, beer or other drinks. Most folks bring a food "offering". The great cooks among us contribute their favorite casserole, or some other home cooked food. And there usually is a takeout pizza, some delicatessen dishes, and some great salads. And of course good desserts. Since Will Peterson moved to Denver we have been suffering without his fantastic chocolate cakes. There are several good conversation areas around the house, so do move around a bit.
