The Freethinkers of Colorado Springs accept points of view verified by engineering, logic, mathematics, and science rather than beliefs stemming from authority, emotion, dogma, or tradition. Founded in 1993 in response to Colorado's Amendment 2, the Freethinkers of Colorado Springs advocate the use of reason, defend the separation of church and state, and support interpersonal dialogue, non-violence, human rights, civil rights, reproductive rights, and equality for all.

Freethinkers "pot luck" dinner and social gathering.

11/10/2018 - 18:00
11/10/2018 - 21:00

This is THE main event for the Freethinkers these days. We usually draws 10 to 30 people. Some folks bring wine, beer or other drinks. Most folks bring a food "offering". The great cooks among us contribute their favorite casserole, or some other home cooked food. And there usually is a takeout pizza, some delicatessen dishes, and some great salads. And of course good desserts. Since Will Peterson moved to Denver we have been suffering without his fantastic chocolate cakes. There are several good conversation areas around the house, so do move around a bit.

Long time local Freethinker Jim Colson from Pueblo has transitioned to the
Memory Phase of our collective lives. He died last week.
Most of us remember Jim as the slender man who drove to our Springs events to
learn and share his smiles and laughs with us.
We will be holding a party to celebrate his life on Saturday at 2 pm.
Pueblo FT activist and friend of Jim, Louis Burg is managing the event which
will be in Pueblo. Here is her discussion of the event.

September 17 is Constitution Day

09/17/2018 - 16:37

Constitution Day

September 17

On September 17, 1787, the thirty nine members of the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution, and the event has been commemorated as "Constitution Day" ever since.

While We the People may find reasons to squabble over the symbols of our nation such as the flag and the national anthem, the United States Constitution is the actual foundation of the United States, and as such deserves to be studied and understood much more than it appears to be.

Do America and America's Founders a favor. Take a few minutes to read the Constitution today.

Since the dawn of time, living things have been recognizing and responding to celestial events such as the summer and winter solstices and spring and fall equinoxes through photoperiodism and circadian rythms.

Apparently, our human foreparents partied.

Maybe we should too.

Three days before his bid for reelection, in the wake of a school shooting in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina, a Republican U.S. senator makes an off-the-cuff comment to a blogger that gets leaked on “the Twitter,” calling into question the senator’s stance on guns and God. As his devoutly Christian wife and liberal Jewish campaign manager try to contain the damage, this look at how religion influences politics and how politics has become a religion is simultaneously funny, heartbreaking, and uplifting.
