Weather permitting, there will be a Homestead Trail hike on Sunday, May 1st. I consider this a moderately easy hike. It is one of the most interesting "city" hikes that I have come across. The hike starts from North Penrose Park then climbs up to the top of a ridge that winds around the east part of town, passing thru Village Seven and Old Farm. After several miles, the trail ends at Stetson Hills Blvd just a bit west of Powers Blvd. North Penrose Park is next to Penrose Elementary School on South Nonchalant Circle.

Come and enjoy good food and great conversation with other Freethinkers! Bring a dish to share, bring your spouse and/or friend, and bring water, soft drinks, a bottle of beer or wine, or whatever you’d like to drink. Coffee and tea will be provided by the host(s). There will be a hike on Sunday, May 15th on the Front Range Trail to maybe see the Blue Herons. This trail is also know as the Santa Fe Trail. We would be meeting at the park-n-ride between Tejon Avenue and Nevada Avenue under Interstate 25. The hike will start at 9:00 AM and we will be heading south towards Fountain. This is an extremely easy hike. It is possible that the Blue Herons are close by the trail and/or flying around along Fountain Creek. Georgianne and I hiked by this area a few weeks ago and we saw one Blue Heron flying over head.

The monthly meeting of the Freethinkers of Colorado Springs takes place on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM. May's meeting will be on the 25th and will take place in the meeting room at the Gill Foundation.
